Frisco, McKinney Top Fastest Growing Cities List
FRISCO, McKINNEY TOP FASTEST GROWING CITIES LIST
The figures gathered by MSN's Real Estate website shows that the two fastest growing cities in America are right here in North Texas. Frisco is number one and McKinney is number two. Twenty years ago these two cities were small town farming communities. Now Frisco's population is 124,000 and McKinney's population tops out at 135,000.
Mayor Maso of Frisco is very excited about the growth. He said, "We have so many things going on at the same time, you can't take a breath." He points to new construction projects like a hospital being built near Frisco Square, which is in the heart of Frisco. Frisco is already home to big retail stores like IKEA and sports venues like FC Dallas Stadium, where professional soccer is played; and the Dr. Pepper Ballpark, home of the minor league Roughriders.
McKinney, the second fastest growing city in the nation, is right behind Frisco. Mayor Brian Loughmiller of McKinney said that success lies in a "hometown" feel. "I grew up in a small town. But we have 135,000 people here and it just doesn't feel like 135,000." One of the big draws to shoppers and sightseers in McKinney is the wonderful, historic McKinney square.
